I may be a little boy crazy but a Trekkie is something that I am not. With actors Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto on the roster as Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in next month's STAR TREK however, I may just have to make my way into theaters on May 8.

The boys were recently seen at the film's premiere in New Zealand and on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Blessed or Burdened?

Time alone doesn't heal all wounds. Memory fades, and that is the only reason we are able to heal.

Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but the only reason for this is our tendency to MISS each other. Because we have the ability to remember the happy moments we share with those we love, when we are no longer together, the mind automatically reflects on happier times as a way of sustaining itself, a life support that carries us through until the next happy memory. Absence also provides enough emotional distance for the mind to forget all the things we dislike about each other; as time passes, we tend to grasp the fond memories tightly, intimately, while the more negative casually slip away. As our capacity to remember fades, and we forget, our minds are free to heal, idealize, romanticize, even dream about future encounters.

MEMORY. Memory is what is all boils down to. My grandfather has Alzheimer's; he never has anything but a smile on his face. Why? Because he doesn't remember anything- pain, love, happiness, loss- he lives in the 'eternal sunshine of a spotless mind'. Our memory is what ties us; what BINDS us; what makes us feel, hope, cry, love, want. Without the memory of relationships, special moments, arguments, dreams, the way we have reacted to experiences, our feelings would be directed at nothing and no one, we would achieve a constant state of ignorance OR, maybe, bliss. As they say, ignorance is bliss- but ignorance can either be not knowing, or simply not remembering.

Lately I've been thinking about why I can have such a tough time in relationships- with friends, men, family- and it all boils down to memory: I have an intense, vivid, palpable one. I can remember smells, touches, words, feelings and sights, so intrinsically that at times it is impossible to get away from myself. I sometimes feel secluded as a result of memory; I can spend hours thinking about how something or someone made me feel, without ever knowing if they even remember, or if I had any impact whatsoever on their lives. At the end of the day, I believe we are blessed to remember; it allows us to empathize, sympathize, and ultimately, learn from our mistakes, pushing us to better our lives and selves.

What do you think about time and memory? Are we blessed to have the ability to remember or is it a crutch? Do you spend more time feeling thankful for your happy memories (in the short while that they actually last), or wishing you could just forget the painful ones?

A significant part of my morning routine includes checking the weather channel, and as of recently this habit has brought about a sense of optimism to each day that goes by. The dreary winter weather that is known to plague Toronto appears to be coming to an end as the sun has finally emerged from its hibernation. Of course, along with the sunshine comes fashion lovers’ excitement for their spring wardrobes. This dress by Hanii Y caught my eye because it works perfectly for both spring and summer. It can be thrown over bare legs or tights, worn with a pair of flats or heels, and can be belted or even worn alone. This piece got me thinking of the clothes I’ve forgotten about over the winter season, and has inspired me to play around with my current wardrobe. Technically, you could simply throw on a plain white dress and grab an oversized silk scarf to drape over it. The final look might not be up to par with the magnificent work of Hanii Y, but you never know what you might end up with! Spring may be a time for renewal, but that doesn’t mean an absolute renewal of your wardrobe. Always remember that old and simple pieces can go a long way with the help of accessories and some innovative thinking!

Study Snack?

I NEED food when I am studying/crying over essays/reading for long periods of time. I get tired of carrot sticks, popcorn is loaded with extra salt, cup-a-soups are filled with ingredients I can't pronounce, so usually I stick to this and it does the trick:

-1 Brown Rice Fajita Wrap, cut into triangles, toasted

-2 tbsp organic hummus (try to get the one without vinegar and preservatives)

-cucumber slices

You get fibre, fat, veg and protein. Easy, fast, delicious, healthy, and all under 80 calories.

If you need more ideas, skim mozzarella cheesestrings (at 60 cals each) are a great option, toasted, unsalted almonds provide a salty crunch, a spoon of natural peanut butter and a square of dark chocolate mimics Reese's perfectly, and of course, fruit!

Let me preface this by saying that I am NOT, nor have I ever been, a Twist-reading, boy band obsessive, teeny-bopper. While I did lust after Nick Carter for several months when I was in grade five, since then, few have roused me into the "OMG I LOVE YOU" screaming stage. In fact, I always thought girls that shrieked/cried/fainted and hung posters on their locker doors and bedroom walls were living in a sort of perverse, sad non-reality. However, today, the 21-year old English student that I am, felt a spark of preteen love. While procrastinating for an essay that is due tomorrow, I was somehow guided over to the GQ website to read their recent interview with Robert Pattinson; I didn't see Twilight- I've never even read the books, SHOCKING- and until several minutes ago, I had no idea what his name was (that hot guy from Twilight sufficed). I feel slightly pathetic posting these, but he is absolutely f*cking gorgeous. Dream man. Might surpass my love for Colin Farrell and Ed Westwick- what is it about dark-haired, dirty boys from England/Ireland that I love so much?? Five minutes of obsessing like a 12-year old can't hurt, right?

Time For A Flashback N’Est-Ce Pas?

As I sit at my computer on this rainy day, I can’t help but hope that the deluge is potentially an early glimmer of spring. With this in mind, my brain cannot stop running through a mental slideshow of one of my favorite fashion and beauty trends that splashed across the runways of last September, driving headlines to read that the 80s are – some may say inevitably – making a major comeback (read: Blumarine, Brian Atwood for Bally, Balmain, Dolce and Gabbana, etc). As spring draws near, I thought it obviously fitting to honor the decade’s glorious revival with a flashback to some of my favorite films of the 1980s:

Less Than Zero, 1987 (Robert Downey Jr., Andrew McCarthy), It only looks like the good life…;

Say Anything…, 1989 (John Cusack), To know Lloyd Dobler is to love him. Diane Court is about to know Lloyd Dobler. ;

In the unbearably hectic weeks to come, between putting the finishing touches on final papers and preparing for our dreaded finals, I invite you all to escape back to an era of filmmaking in which the Brat Pack ruled all, red hair was the most envied accessory (see Molly Ringwald), and all a girl really wanted was to fall in love as a Peter Gabriel track played in the background.

These two women are so chic and so cool, I just had to share. They really offer lots of outfit inspiration for the colder days and the warmer days to come. I love the colourful scarf, cropped trench and gorgeous brogues worn by the first femme; this will be my uniform come April. And the touch of red added to the classic camel coat, paired with the clutch and wool hat seen in the second picture, will be how I carry out my days until then. Thank you, Garance, for capturing them outside of the Paris shows !!

Right or Wrong? Good or Bad?

I'm sure many of you have already seen some, if not all, of the images from this Glamour photo shoot celebrating seven decades of American female icons. At first, I thought it was pretty intriguing to be honest; the idea of having young celebrities pose as famous, strong women from the past century really appealed to me. However, I think the execution could have been much much better. As an adoring fan of Audrey Hepburn's, I thought Emma Roberts' photo was simply lacking in charisma, Carrie Bradshaw's (not sure of the actress' name) was embarassingly bad, Lindsay Lohan as Madonna was tired, and Alicia Keys as Michelle Obama was just too corny. The styling was a bit bland, the pictures not as vibrant as I would have hoped, AND, my sister made an excellent point when she saw me flip through these yesterday: isn't it a little wrong/creepy to do a photoshoot whereby these young women pose as dead, living, and fictional female icons simultaneously? Either way, they have become too 'popular' not to post. Decide for yourselves, and as always, I'd love to know what you think!

P.s. If you're wondering, my favourite is Paula Patton as Billie Holiday (the first photo here). She is absolute perfection; THAT image alone would have been enough for me.

My blackberry broke yesterday. As a replacement, I was given a PINK device. I hate to admit it but, it's already growing on me. It goes with the weather; bright and cheerful. I like it.
I am going to go browse the shops and soak up some rays. I want to see “Nightwatching” tonight--it’s about Rembrandt and has subtitles (wonderful!)--or, maybe, "One Week". Who doesn't like a little Pacey Witter, aka Joshua Jackson, once in a while?

Grade 4 Flashback

I'm sick. After last week's air travel, adjusting to two entirely separate climates, and having internalized a mountain of stress over the past month, it really is no surprise. I've caught some sort of cold-y bronchitis thing, which obviously means I haven't left my bed, but the purple hot chilies I used to wear for skiing in the days when I could swiftly zoot down the moguls and black diamonds effortlessly (before I crashed, rolled to the bottom with my skies still on and never skied again) have been doing a pretty good job of keeping my toes toasty. However, while it's quite easy to find warm clothing to envelope my frozen self in, entertainment, on the other hand, when you've spent countless hours in your room quarantined, can be difficult to come by. After finally figuring out the Genuis tool in iTunes, reorganizing my make-up box, succumbing to Twitter (twitter.com/laurenmarotta, by the way) and taking various baths loaded with lavender sea salts (how do you know when you've added enough salt? Should the water be salty? Ew, someone said I should I taste the water..) I started doing something that was inevitable, I suppose: Blog hunting. Oh, how I love blogs. I think it's all the pictures? I will admit that although I check my favourite blogs daily, I generally don't have enough time to scout for new ones or search for new looks from the people that inspire me. But today, while scouring the internet for new stuff, I came across an Alexander Wang SKORT on fashionista.com. A SKORT. What the f?!?!?!

Although it is very cute, I remember the variety of skorts I used to wear in grade school almost too vividly to ever wear one again. I know we are seeing a flashback to the '80s and '90s in fashion right now- Marc Jacobs F/W09 Collection, the entire Topshop website, docs and penny loafers, Alice Dellal, Aggie Deyn etc.- and although some pieces are really luring me in, when I saw this, it hit far TOO close to home. So, while it's certainly adorable, and images of pieces I could wear with it instantly flashed around in my mind (leather jacket, white LnA tee, Pour La Victoire strappy black platforms- just to name a few), I really cannot imagine purchasing one, let alone wearing one. Yet.

Will you buy a SKORT again? And if so, what will you wear it with? I'm dying to know!

Summer Brights = Love

Every year, during the stress of essays and midterms, I take a minute to assess my closet and decide what I’ll need for the upcoming spring/summer season. After the winter we’ve had, with mountains of snow, minus 30 temperatures and dull colours, I’ve decided that my summer wardrobe will be built around crazy, bright summer accessories.

The first purchase I plan to make is a pair of brightly coloured sandals. Ones which can take me from strolling around the city, drinking iced lattes, to being perfectly paired with a casual outfit for a night out sitting on a patio. For me, the ideal pair comes courtesy of See by Chloe. These ankle strap sandals come in a variety of colours, and yes, even black for those of you who don’t feel so bold.

My next piece will be a huge bag. I’m planning to save my hard-earned Swiss Chalet dollars to purchase the Marc by Marc Jacobs Dot Bowler. The mint hue is perfect for toting on a daily basis, with more casual pieces like dark wash boyfriend jeans and a white wife beater.

Finally, this summer I need a brightly hued pair of sunglasses for those days spent hanging out at the beach, whether it be Wasaga or Ibiza. These sunglasses will be strictly for fun, and of course I’ll have my classic pair of oversized tortoise shell frames on hand, as well. For me, these perfect sunglasses come from Emilio Pucci. The Pucci printed shades are reminiscent of 60’s tie-dyed apparel, but are super fun for the summer.

Anyway fashionistas, it doesn’t matter what pieces you choose, just remember that summer = bright colours.

Yes, I realize this is late and I probably should have posted it Sunday night immediately after I saw her, BUT how incredible did Natalie Portman look at the Oscars in her ethereal, lilac Rodarte gown? She must have caused quite a stir outside of my living room, as well, because I've spotted photos of this stunner all across the blogosphere this week. Today, I just had to declare my love for this look one last time.

Thank you, Natalie Portman, for showing 20-somethings everywhere that you can look age-appropriate, but still gorgeous as hell on the red carpet. Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, etc., take note.

Look of the Week #2

Although I have never been a huge fan of the boyfriend trouser, I have found myself quite captivated by its counterpart—"the boyfriend blazer.” Over the past season, we have seen this trend grow in popularity and it seems like it is here to stay. The look has been spotted in several new collections, including Stella McCartney’s Spring 2009 fashion show. Celebrities such as Kate Moss and the Olsen twins display how this piece can be transformed from runway to realway, and show us just how simple it is to sport. The boyfriend blazer is a practical transitional piece that can be worn with layers during colder months, or a simple tank and a pair of shorts in the summer. It looks great with the cuffs rolled up and it works on both guys and girls!

Class at 9am, but your alarm only went off at 8:45? So, you have 25 minutes to shower, change, and get out the door. Class may only be an hour long, but time stands still when you’re caffeine deprived and your stomach aches for nourishment. Really it seems hopeless…you can never get up in time to make breakfast, granola bars are unappealing, and the Starbucks line is long. Oh how the student longs for an easy and healthy solution! Well, the day has come, a time and money-saving breakfast that will power you through class (or any time of the day really). Mix up a batch of these in 20 minutes for less than $3 and you’ll have a wholesome breakfast for the week!

Simple Breakfast Muffins:

1 pouch 6-serving low-fat muffin mix
1 egg white
1 cup bran flakes or buds
½ cup water
Choose your own ingredients:
½ cup: mashed banana, applesauce, or canned pumpkin
1 tbsp cocoa or 1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract, maple extract, or almond extract

Mix wet ingredients in one bowl (egg, water, fruit, extract) and dry ingredients in another bowl (muffin mix, cereal, spice) then combine. Pour into muffin tin prepped with cups. Bake in an oven preheated to 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack. Freeze in a single layer. Makes about 8 muffins.

My favourite combo is apple-cinnamon muffins, canned pumpkin, a banana, pumpkin pie spice and some vanilla. For class I take one or two muffins out of the freezer, nuke for 30 seconds and enjoy!

This reading week definitely left no room for change, especially since I had a major paper to complete for one of my less than interesting politics classes.

Not too long ago, a good girlfriend of mine could not hold back her emotions when raving to me about her new favorite television show. Having just discovered Bravo’s “The Rachel Zoe Project”, this friend of mine appeared utterly infatuated with the infamous celebrity stylist who holds Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, and Kate Beckinsale as her top clients. As she blathered on about the show however, one comment stuck in my mind – I remain uncertain if it was intended to be a compliment or an insult – my dear friend insisted that I could be a young “clone” of Zoe herself.

Undoubtedly, I was taken aback as the headlines of Zoe’s fallout with Nicole Richie (see Richie’s MySpace rant circa 2006) followed by intense rumors of Zoe as an anorexic, drug-pushing, “raisin-face” ran through my head. Nonetheless, I had to decide for myself – fast-forward to six hours of unintentional procrastination later, and I was smitten. I am proud to admit that I officially have a girl-crush on super-stylista Rachel Zoe.

Zoe’s life is roller coaster as she flies coast to coast and sifts through shipment after shipment of the latest couture pieces from the world’s top designers simply to create the ultimate “red-carpet moment” for her clients. Her glamorous taste for vintage clothing and accessories is impeccable and, as I analyzed each episode carefully, the resemblance to Zoe that my friend had mentioned earlier is not that far-fetched. Zoe’s petite frame – she can’t be taller than 5’2 – big hair, big jewelry, and an even bigger personality act as almost eerie snapshots of my own style tendencies. What truly stood out however is the proof, found in each moment of ‘reality’ that Rachel Zoe’s nay-sayers are completely wrong.

Zoe, the obvious style maven, is cute as a button and is overcome with passion for her work. The fashion industry is a playground for Zoe and her approach to each flash of fabulousness, especially with her spontaneous shopping trips, is full of unapologetic excitement and energy, not to mention her impromptu dinners with friend Marc Jacobs. Zoe is an utter sweetheart and is easily admirable from a style perspective and a personal one. One can’t help but envy the way she manages a sane family life with husband Rodger Berman in light of the drama and confusion that follow her around each day. Rachel Zoe is a trendsetter, trailblazer, and, as hours of reading week procrastination have taught me, a woman with a lot more passion for fashion in her tiny little body to last for years to come.

Weekend: Salsalicious!

I’ve been up all night drowning in work. While I LOVE my fringe lamp (stolen from home), I think I am going blind from reading by such dim light. All-nighters are NOT smart but, once in a while, drastic times call for drastic measures. After roaming the streets of NYC, having a very romantic Valentine’s dinner with my parents and lounging by the fire at my house in the forest, it is back to the collegiate grind. This being said, one has to take a break every so often.

Flip through a magazine. Feb. Paris Vogue features Dutch model, Lara Stone. She is amazing. I kind of wish I had my childhood tooth-gap back.

Prepare some meals for the next few days. I have been testing curry recipes and freezing individual portions. Once you buy the spices, it is super cheap, healthy (adjust the amount of oil if you want), delicious and quick. This one—pg. 92, Vij Family’s Chicken curry— is good to start off with:

Look of the Week #1

While continuing to procrastinate for an upcoming mid-term, I was filled with delight as I stumbled across this photo on my favourite website:http://lookbook.nu. As my pile of oversized tees continues to grow within my drawer, it's not a surprise that I've grown tired of cinching them with high-waisted belts or merely throwing them over a pair of leggings. This fashionista helped me discover an unlikely solution to spicing up a baggy t-shirt. The trick is to simply tie a knot at the front of the t-shirt. By doing just that, additional texture is created and a dull getup is unexpectedly transformed into a unique one. Whether it's a few drinks with the girls or an overnight trip to Robarts, this helpful tip is a sure way to add detail to an outfit while keeping comfort in mind. Although browsing through my much loved fashion websites might not be the most productive activity the night before an exam, I can surely say that I have learnt something new that will without a doubt stay on my mind.

Anyone wondering where to find Erin Wasson's new line for RVCA, "Erin Wasson x RVCA", will be thrilled to know that it is coming to Toronto any time now! Holt Renfrew will be stocking it. A Little Bit In Love With Lykke Li

Thank you Sweden for giving us another one of your lovable imports, aside from H&M and Ikea (I know, I know, Sweden is known for so much more!). Sweden has made its mark on the music map with pop/indie/electronic/alternative singer Lykke (apparently pronounced Luk-kah) Li.

On Friday, February 6^th 2009, Lykke Li performed in front of hundreds of fans at the Phoenix concert hall. I had the lucky opportunity to be four rows away from the stage, and had a pretty good view thanks to my wonderful friend Angela who casually pushed her way through the crowd; you can bet we had a few angry patrons, which was all forgotten as soon as Lykke Li hit the stage! This is Lykke Li’s second time in Toronto, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to go to her first show.

She performed a fun, passionate, soulful and energetic set. I think only Lykke Li can put together a show where she incorporates the use of a kazoo, megaphone, mini portable electric piano, and bangs on the drum during her performance. I think she wanted to prove to the audience that she is more than just a pretty face and has all these wonderful little talents. The concert had a very intimate feel, complete with her cute Swedish band accompanying her. Lykke Li moved and jumped all over the stage with her signature arm moves and robotic dance style that I have become familiar with in her videos (See: I’m Good I’m Gone and Little Bit).

One of the highlights of the show was when she performed a cover of Lil Wayne’s A Milli. The lyrics were hard to hear as the crowd was overcome with excitement, and she went beat crazy on the drums. She also did a Kings of Leon song, and gave her guests a special gift by singing a song from her upcoming album.

I loved Lykke Li’s outfit, but was wondering how she was dealing with the temperature. She wore a black tunic, and a long black scarf with pleats and ruffles which can be seen in the photos, complete with black opaque stockings, Doc Marten boots, a gold necklace and skinny belt.

Hearing her belt out her ballads, including Little Bit, Tonight, and Everybody But Me, sounded even better live. Her soft, sweet voice adds an innocence to her music. It was almost rather haunting, but enjoyable, and myself and the other Lykke fans couldn’t help but sing along, really trying to feel the emotions and the effect of her wicked dance moves.

Despite the lack of energy some of the crowd possessed, I must say I enjoyed her a lot. All in all, it was a really good concert, and it made me appreciate Lykke Li “a little bit” more. I’ve never been one to celebrate Valentine’s Day. As the perpetual single girl within my group of girlfriends, Valentine’s Day is the day where I sit at home alone eating cinnamon hearts, drinking red wine and watching endless re-runs of Sex and the City. However, this year happens to be different, because I am now in a relationship. And as happy and excited as I am to finally celebrate this day with my boyfriend, I am also faced with a dilemma; what do I do for my him on Valentine’s Day? If he is responsible for buying flowers and candy and making dinner reservations, what’s left for me to do? And also, what is an appropriate Valentine’s Day gift for a guy? To answer these questions I have spent hours deliberating and discussing with my girlfriends (who are all in long term relationships), and have finally created some guidelines for myself, which I hope will be helpful for you as well. Although, before I begin, I should state that I am of the firm belief that Valentine’s Day is a day for guys to dazzle their girlfriends. I realize that this is a very traditional view, but I’m sentimental like that.

First, if you’ve just recently started to see a guy, it may not be the best idea to go overboard on a gift. Set yourself a budget. Consider finding a gift that’s on the smaller side. Perhaps a scarf or some quirky Valentine’s Day boxers. For gifts of this nature, check out places like Urban Outfitters or American Eagle. Although these gifts are small they are items which can be used daily. Pair your gift with a cute card and you’re good to go.

If you’ve been dating your partner for a long time and have some extra cash lying around, why not consider a bigger ticket item? Try finding tickets to a concert or sporting event on Ebay or Ticketmaster. And, if you’re lucky enough to land these types of tickets, why not make a day of it? Take a stroll in a new area of the city or try a new restaurant before making your way over to your chosen event.

If you're cash strapped because you’re a struggling student or have been hit hard by the recession, aim for a thoughtful homemade gift. Why not bake the object of your affection their favourite type of cookies and decorate them with the emblem of his favourite team? Or consider inviting your boyfriend over and cooking dinner together. And we’re not talking a five course gourmet meal…he’ll be happy with homemade pizza or your specialty -- grilled cheese!

Despite these ideas, I feel the need to highlight the fact that after consulting with my large group of male friends, it has become apparent that men aren’t as concerned with Valentine’s Day as women are. That being said, I think it is important to show your significant other that you love them. Just remember that Valentine’s Day isn’t about gifts, but is about spending time with the one you love. Flowers, candy, gifts and dinner reservations are just the icing on the cake.

The Art of Rodarte

I wish I had the talent of Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Realizing the impossibility of this, I will settle on having a piece of their amazing clothing, instead. The sister dream-team from California is the force behind fashion company, RODARTE. Recognized by the likes of Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin (see his studded shoes in their 08/09 collections below!) and the CFDA, Rodarte’s almost non-existent knits and oh so pretty dresses mixed with a bit of punk are really phenomenal. This line is still in its infant years, founded in 2005, but it is only improving and is continuously catching the eye of those who matter in the industry. I want everything, but first, I MUST have one of their cardigans.

That time of year again..

After two torturously long, oxygen-deprived flights, many hours spent awkwardly contorted in a tiny airport lounge chair withstanding the immeasurable pain of delays, several beers guzzled back in the seediest airport bar I've yet to encounter (entitled "Stinger Ray's" and complete with the stereotypical neon-flashing lights, Shania Twain feeling like a woman all over the sound system, and a rude, gum-chewing waitress), and an overnight layover spent at a Westin airport hotel in, excuse my language, buttfuck LA, which now feels more like a dark childhood nightmare rather than a foggy memory, I am home. At last. Home, but emotionally devoid of the traditional "welcome home" feeling that one is meant to experience upon arriving, or any of the positive connotations that accompany the word "homecoming." Instead, I am jet-lagged due to the five hour time difference, cranky due to the ice-cold weather, bloated due to the strange physics of air travel and air pressure I could never quite understand, and wondering to myself, to what place, and how, will I make my next great escape?

For years, my sister and I have been referred to as gypsies by anyone that has known us long enough to actually get to know who we really are between our comings and goings. With our suitcases eternally packed, we have become experts at any sort of travel- long or short, luxury or budget, far or near- only able to sustain the grayness of every day life by reminding ourselves that the possibility of travel is always shining brightly right around the corner. After finally finishing university, I hope to allow myself the opportunity to either fulfill my greatest dream and travel constantly for an extended period of time, soaking up as much of the world's expansively varied culture that I can, or relocate to a place that might allow me the chance to follow another one of my passions. However, I am always aware that my desire to constantly change scenery, my itch to explore new places, will ensure I can never comfortably stay in one place for too long.

What is the point of me telling you all this, you may wonder? Well, as another one of our bloggers has already explored, the idea of resolutions (a word I really hate, by the way) has been embedded firmly in my mind since day one of the year 2009. Indeed, I have already contemplated my travel aspirations for the new year, and decided upon several places I would like to try and visit- San Francisco, London, Hawaii, Istanbul, Prague, and quick weekend jaunts to NYC and Miami, just to name a few- but, in terms of solid, personal resolutions, I seem to be at a loss. I've realized this week, throughout my many available (read: bored) moments spent sandwiched tight on airplanes, that my resolutions have always concerned ways to escape my mundane reality, as opposed to focusing on ways I might improve, and dare I say, embrace, my current situation. I am guilty of living for the trip I hope will come up next; when one is done, I immediately begin planning another, relying on the process of researching destinations and booking upcoming excursions as a therapeutic lifeline that will carry me through the banality of university. So in light of this recent revelation, I am determined to make some resolutions (again, for lack of a better word), which intend on restructuring my life as I live it right NOW, in between getaways.

Just a sample of them:

- feel more empowered and in control of my education; reading before class, handing in essays on time (a task I have never seemed to master), and realizing that not every written word can be perfect.

- running; an activity that will not only help me health-wise and fashion-wise (summer = miniskirts and bikinis), but also clear my mind and encourage me to beat out frustrations on a treadmill, as opposed to continually internalizing my stress.

- make a plan for this year that does not rely on escape in order to survive; learn to relax, take time for myself, and not feel guilty about doing nothing, that way during crunch periods I can approach work with a balanced mind.

Lastly, and most importantly:

- grow this magazine; a task that simply cannot be done without your help. This blog, and the magazine pages that you will soon have in your hands, is my dream. And it is with great hope, your feedback, and the wonderful people you have been reading about over the past month, that it might actually come true this year.

Whatever your new year's resolutions may be, I hope you can include us in your 2009 plans- whether they revolve around personal improvement, or a list of destinations you hope will help you avoid your current reality. Let's embrace our present lives instead of constantly living for the future, and make it a really good one.

Introducing.... Jacquie!

My back hurts, a lot…why you may ask? Perhaps it’s because I spent the last three days baking Christmas cookies, 13 different kinds, all gifts. The stirring, rolling, cutting, decorating, all labour-intensive. Seriously. It’s a little much, but it had to be done.

Why would I bring this up? Well, it’s a common experience, usually not with cookies, but with clothes. I’m a crazed vintage shopper. I will spend hours on end searching through racks of clothing looking for the perfect item or trying to figure out how I can make some ridiculous piece look just right.

If a friend or even a stranger were to describe my style, I think they would have a hard time because of how varied it is. I love to dress up; my favourite current look is vintage-nerd chic, most other times ill wear giant sequined sweaters and skinny jeans or leggings (its cold in this city!). I dress according to my mood and I wear a lot of vintage that is already worn in, so I’m always comfortable despite consistently wearing three inch heels to class. Apparently, I can be described as a beatnik, “a nonconformist in dress and behaviour."

The thing that scares me most about Toronto (okay, the fashion-related thing) is that most people on the street leave their house thinking they look good or at least decent, while I think otherwise. I know it’s a terrible thought, and I like to think I’m not so superficial, but my view is that everyone should express themselves through their dress. I know it seems counterintuitive to advocate judging people by their outward appearance, but most people you see aren’t going to get a chance to know you, and I’d think that they should get the most accurate first glance they can.

So I guess that’s my trademark, I dress how I’m feeling or how I hope to feel, I wear a shirt and tie to political philosophy class and baggy (toga-like) dresses to ancient philosophy.

From that you can now know that I’m a third year philosophy specialist at U of T. I spent my first year at McGill (coincidentally, in the same res as Marina) and I was in Commerce. I did not enjoy my experience at McGill, but I don’t regret going at all. Had I not gone to Montreal I don’t think I would have been able to fall so deeply in love with Toronto. I love this city, and I love my university (loving class is a different story). The switch was probably the most profound of my life, but despite such a change, I feel like myself here.

I love being a student, having the freedom to express myself in any way I want, and having a good excuse- I’m still young.

I like to be organized, but I don’t make a problem of things not going to plan. This blog entry is a perfect example…so that’s a bit about me, I feel like I haven’t told you much, but perhaps if we meet on the street one day, look at what I’m wearing and at least you’ll know how I’m feeling!

With each new year, everyone’s mind is wrought with dilemmas - what’s my New Year’s resolution? Should I even make one? What are my goals for the year? Blah? Blah? Blah? This year, while I personally was deciphering the New Year’s conundrum, I began to wonder on a much larger scale. Before explaining, I have to mention that, ecstatic with having easy access to a TV since being home for the holidays, I’ve been watching a lot of old movies (TCM - wow, wow, I love that channel) and period pieces lately. Seeing the different costume and mannerisms (and even more interesting, the role of women throughout the decades - but that is a much more complicated story) for each decade is so interesting. I then realized that it is fairly easy, judging by these key characteristics, to decide when the film is supposed to have taken place.

Then I thought this: what about this past decade? Is there even any outstanding quality that defines these years? Okay, so its the age of technology, etc. - but who cares? Every decade from now on will be the age of technology. In terms of fashion, is there even one look that stands out? Not really. I think most people are more comfortable now than ever going out in public looking like a slob. But I admit, things ARE looking towards the brighter side once Uggs disappear from the city streets. (Ew, remember the days when those nasty velour track suits were popular? I’m embarrassed.) When we look back on the decades of the 20th century, we have a picture in our heads of the way things generally were in each time period. Think about it...

Now, what we have is the freedom to take on the persona of any time period and get away with it. You know, there was that brief fad last year about the flapperesque style, and even 70s inspired clothes. There was a time a few years ago when the 80s style thing was in, and hey, I guess even some of the grunge style is visiting from the 90s with the lumberjack thing going on now. So what I’m trying to say is that many people of our generation often dress as characters from another time, with a modern spin on it, but is there a defining look for our decade?

But maybe that’s the good thing. Everyone can be whoever they want, unbound by the current fads. What do I know, I haven’t even lived through two decades anyway!

I have been known to be chronically under-dressed for the cold winter months. It is the bane of my mother’s existence every year. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to admit that I have a problem; I really don’t like wearing boots or sensible footwear, I never wear hats, I find gloves a hassle, and I do not own a nice big winter coat. This being said, I cannot get over those few girls who find it acceptable to brave the winter weather with bare legs! The other day, while taking shelter in Starbucks after battling the numbing blizzard, I saw a girl lounging by the fireplace in shorts. Yes, SHORTS. Did her flight to a fabulous warm holiday destination leave her unexpectedly stranded?? Were her pants taken from her in a mean prank? Was it a dare??? While I envied her confidence and lovely legs, I have to say, no matter how much I dislike bundling up, I NEVER forget to put on a pair of pants or tights at the very least. It is never fashionable to lose limbs from frostbite over giving-in to the urge to wear a favorite summer outfit in December.

Hey Fashion Lovers,

My name is Veronica Barbieri and I’m in my fourth year at U of T majoring in English and Political Science. I’m also a contributor for Trademark, the University of Toronto’s first fashion magazine. When our Editor-in-Chief asked us to talk about our trademarks, I confess I was at a loss. Trying to define oneself is always difficult, but especially when it’s open to the public. I started thinking, “what do I want other people to know about me?” And finally, after weeks of deliberation and thought, I’ve come up with an answer…

I guess I should start by telling you all a little bit about where I’m from, which I dread doing. I’m from Woodbridge, but I don’t define myself as being “Woodbridge.” I hate the preconceived notions and misconceptions that accompany it. I love to travel and plan to embark on a European escape with a friend after graduation...Ibiza anyone? I’m obsessed with Anderson Cooper, and find him to be not only unbelievably intelligent, but also an amazing journalist and sexy as hell. Speaking of journalism, it has always been my dream to attend Columbia University in NYC, get a Masters in Journalism and work at Vogue. I’m particularly interested in politics and am excited to see if and how Barack Obama’s presidency changes the way politics is conducted on an international scale. I love old romantic movies like Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but am just as into sitting around and watching hockey and football. I’m a guy’s girl to the extreme, but still love fashion and hanging out with my girlfriends. I’m obsessed with Sigerson Morrison shoes and hate the fact that it’s almost impossible to find them in Toronto. I love anything designed by Marc Jacobs, and when I was in Manhattan I made it my personal mission to visit every Marc Jacobs store. I would die and go to heaven if Tom Ford offered to design my wardrobe. I love to spend hours wandering the city, trying to find a new shop, restaurant or hot-spot. I am constantly on a mission to find the perfect pair of shoes, however, my definition of perfect is constantly changing. I hate Uggs but I own a pair because they are the only thing warm enough to get me through a Canadian winter. I believe in being fabulous, which for me involves an amazing outfit, extremely large sunglasses and a Campari-Soda in hand. I love to shop, because as Sophie Kinsella wrote in her novel Confessions on a Shopaholic, “That instant when your fingers curl around the handles of a shiny, uncreased bag and all the gorgeous new things inside it become yours. What's it like? It's like going hungry for days, then cramming your mouth full of warm buttered toast. It’s like waking up and realizing it's the weekend. It's like the better moments of sex. Everything else is blocked out of your mind. Its pure, selfish pleasure." These are my trademarks, what makes me who I am.

My name is Marina, I’ll soon be a very proud contributor for TRADEMARK, and I don’t usually do this. I never really read blogs, so when I was assigned the task of writing one, it seemed daunting. But, after three years of writing nothing but black-and-white essays and annotated bibliographies and final exams, this is a breath of fresh air.

I transferred this year from McGill, which I guess was a big waste of tuition fees and residence costs, and train tickets, but I think that sometimes the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself first.

I’m studying political science; I think that our political ideologies and inclinations speak volumes about every other aspect of our lives, even our sense of fashion.

I’m dangerously leftist.

I believe that the most beautiful things in life are simple and genuine.

I have a passion for writing and adore people that are good with words.

Antoine De Saint-Exupéry, author of 'The Little Prince,' once wrote: “You risk tears if you let yourself be tamed;” I believe that the greatest tragedy is the taming of hopes and dreams.

I’m terrified of needles, I don’t really like elevators, and I don’t go anywhere without a book, a mini-connect four game, my agenda, and gum.

I love anything knitted (I wish I knew how to knit more than just rectangles), lumberjack patterned, or off-the-shoulder.

My Search for the Perfect Jean

The search for the perfect jean, as we all know, can bring on huge amounts of stress. Unfortunately, for us ladies, the search has not yet come to an end. However, rest assured male population, for I have come across a jean brand that will blow your mind. Although I have only heard rave reviews from the salesperson showing me the jeans, I became quite intrigued and was anxious to find out more about them. The brand is called Nudie Jeans Co. and they can be found in small boutiques across the country (including chains such as Holt’s and Aritzia).

Now, what is so interesting about these jeans you may ask? Well, they claim to be the “naked truth about denim.” With the motto, 'the more you wear the jeans the more beautiful they get,' Nudie Jeans Co. has helped redefine the favoured worn-in casual denim market. The secret to attaining Nudie's perfect denim is to NOT wash your jeans for up to six months- yes, six months – even spot treatment is not recommended! Supposedly, this amount of time spent breaking in your jeans will help further set the indigo, forming a water-resistant-like shield against future washes. By not tossing them into the washer, not only does the jean protect its colour, but it begins to form to your body type and become unique to your character. For instance, if you always keep your wallet in your back right pocket, the jeans will show distress in that area. With eleven styles to choose from, Nudie is originally men’s denim, however, some fits are quite popular with women.

So I throw this question out to anyone who has tried these jeans and ask for opinions/comments in return…are they really as cool as they sound, or is this just another really good marketing ploy?

Twinkling lights fill my vision everywhere I glance; the Love Actually soundtrack is on repeat in every store I enter; my face freezes as I walk down the icy, slippery streets, but the luscious smell of cinnamon spice that continually floats out of Williams-Sonoma is enough to warm me even on the coldest day. Christmas is almost here, and I couldn't be happier.

Although I have spent the last seven Christmases relaxing in the sand with the family and friends I truly love most in this world- a reliable tradition that has become one of the only constants in my ever-changing life- my nostalgia for the snowy Christmases of my past is stronger than ever. The trees, mornings, and television specials of my youth are memories that flood my mind as soon as Toronto evolves into a Christmas town. Despite the fact that I still have one exam left, I find it impossible to concentrate; all I want is to go outside, indulge in some Christmas shopping, warm-up inside a cafe sipping on the richest hot chocolate I can find, and rush home to pop in "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (the cartoon version, of course). Instead, I find myself locked indoors, staring dutifully at my notes, burdened by an art history text that seems to call for me no matter what room I try to hide in.

Whether you celebrate Christmas as I do, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or nothing at all- I wish you a happy, healthy, and wonderful holiday. May you build fabulous new memories with the ones you love most, while also reminding yourselves of the happiest moments from your past. As the old adage goes, we can never truly know where we are going if we don't know where we have been. So, I wanted to share a very little piece of my favourite childhood memory with all of you, with the hope that as this new year descends upon us, we can fondly remember our more youthful selves, and keep smiling and laughing through any hardship that comes our way in the future. Introducing.... Fiona!

I just finished watching “Love in the Afternoon,” a classic Audrey Hepburn movie. Now, I wish I was running off to Cannes with a charming foreign man, while wearing a fantastic fur coat. INSTEAD, I am here in west TO burning incense (the blue box: my favourite!) and lounging in Ralph Lauren sateen sheets (they are just so soft and luxurious). I am planning my wishful escape from university- specifically, my Human Biology and Psychology majors. After taking a year off after high school to travel and live in Europe and India, I am now in my second year at U of T. For my dream escape plan, I have decided culinary school sounds perfect… everyone knows Jamie Oliver is the new Justin Bobby. Although the Hills reference would be incentive enough for most, cooking has always been my true love and I would like nothing more than to satisfy my culinary curiosity. My trial run next summer at the Tante Marie Culinary School in the UK is what is getting me through this year.

While I wait, I am so excited for TRADEMARK!!!!! Today I put on my new favorite tapered trousers from H&M, packed-up my trusty Vivienne Westwood bag, and went on a mission to find a camera so that I can begin stylestalking. I can't wait to capture everyone I think is cool and fantastic, and to start writing for the magazine as a contributor. My mind is already brimming with ideas.

One of my early New Year’s resolutions- along with my superficial determination to welcome 2009 wearing sequined leggings- is to remain positive throughout the whole holiday season and into the Year of the Ox. Christmas is the MOST wonderful time of the year (that isn’t a song for nothing) and my positive outlook will make it even more fabulous. While it is too difficult to resist mentioning my extreme dislike of emoticons, the Barenaked Ladies, and hippie-headbands, all day I have been thinking of some more of my favorite things to focus on. Since movies are on my mind after watching Audrey, here are some of my favorites: 2 Days in Paris – Julie Delpy is a dream and we share the same glasses; The Girl in the Café – painfully awkward/hilarious/sad/so good; Romeo and Juliet – I have a soft spot for Leo, Shakespeare, and tattoos (I have one); Clockwork Orange – I like the book more, but it is still a classic; and lastly, I Capture the Castle – it is also one of my favorite books and is kind of childish but SO good, it confirms that I wish I lived in a castle…

Every holiday season, Trinity College at U of T holds its annual champagne party: the Bubbly. Members of the college and their guests, clad in the most dapper of attire, enjoy the likes of a live band, sample hors d'oeuvres, and indulge in champagne- what a perfect event to begin stylestalking at! This year, in particular, several trends emerged from this small community. Classics such as the traditional bow tie, and ever-elegant lace were prevalent, while many other seasonal trends also appeared. Cool, effortless converse were seen grazing the dance floor, while sequins were donned in a contemporary, chic manner. What an idyllic (and fashionable) way to bring 2008 to a close.

My name is Melissa Cugliari, and I’m addicted to fashion.

Recently appointed PR Director for TRADEMARK magazine, I am absolutely ecstatic to be a part of such a new and distinctive publication. I am an English and Philosophy student, and I adore school. Born and raised in Toronto, I can’t get enough of this city and all that it has to offer. My favorite urban areas include Kensington Market and Little Italy, the St. Lawrence Market, and of course, the increasingly trendy Queen West. I adore anything unique, hence my obsession with vintage shopping and DIY clothing projects (I’ve most recently started studding everything I own – it completely reinvents lackluster clothes!). The most rewarding thing to me is finding a one-of-a-kind piece from one of my favorite vintage shops, or discovering a new, hip spot in the city. I spend most of my free time painting, and I have an infatuation with art. I love obscure British comedies, maple walnut ice-cream, sequins, and coloured pens. Another passion of mine is food; a culinary school hopeful, I am an avid chef and can make a killer mushroom risotto. I have also been known to eat sushi for several meals on end (my current record is four). I am a morning person, and am extremely laid back; one unfortunate result of which is my indecisiveness. I buy nail polish in bulk, as manicures and pedicures are my favorite indulgence. I am a self-proclaimed wine connoisseur, and secretly love house/electro music. My major weakness for jewelry never allows me to leave the house without a wristful of bracelets, my grandfather’s vintage watch, and several rings. I could spend hours on end reading philosophy, especially that of Kierkegaard and Nietzsche.

I believe fashion is an art, and the best mode of expression. These are my personal trademarks and I hope to, in some way, contribute them to this magazine, inspiring you all to find your own.

Hello to all my fellow fashion lovers! My name is Alexandra – or essentially any nickname you can possibly think to call me- I’ve had them all. I am currently in my second year at the University of Toronto, studying Political Science with a double minor in Italian and Spanish, and I am your proud, newly appointed Beauty Section Editor.

Politics is definitely a passion to live by, as I have for much of my mature life. Fashion and beauty, on the other hand, are lifestyles – elements that define generations, set eras apart, and ultimately consume those who fall victim to them. Fashion and beauty set the stage for so many other elements as well, and it is for this reason that I have fallen completely and utterly in love with them.

I am a self-proclaimed beauty junkie. I obsess over the latest gloss, the perfect mascara brush, the hottest curling iron, and the most accurate liquid liner. I have more cosmetics than I can handle, but I still lust for the newest products on the market. I am on a constant hunt for the perfect scent and one day, I will discover it. In my mind, it is a perfect blend of patchouli, warm vanilla sugar, and pink grapefruit…go ahead, call me obsessed. In my sincere opinion, beauty is not skin deep, but it sure does make us feel beautiful. As I come to you from TRADEMARK, I will look to help you find your own signature beauty, and focus on the perfect products and regimens for the youthful set – after all, an anti-aging serum isn’t quite on any of our wish lists. I will relieve all your beauty stresses, and answer your deep questions- from how to achieve the perfect eyebrow to lip liner etiquette. But, above all, I will make you feel beautiful.

I live by the quote at the top of this page. It is entirely simplistic, but by digging deep enough into its underlying meaning, you can ignite an entire other side of yourself. It was only a few days ago that I read a ‘blog’ for the first time, which most of you might find completely surprising! With that said, I admit I have a lot to learn about the blogging world. But I’ll start with a little bit about me…

My name is Christina. I am currently in my third year studying Urban Geography and History at the University of Toronto. My passionate interest in the development of cities, people, and how they interact, has ultimately led me to study these fields. I guess that makes me sound a little boring, huh? But, I promise I’m more interesting than my studies make me out to be. As the Health Section Editor of TRADEMARK magazine, you might automatically assume that I’m a health fanatic, and you wouldn’t be wrong! I aggressively promote wearing sunscreen all year round, because sunspots are definitely not fashionable. Some friends of mine introduced me to yoga, and I wish I had started sooner... who knew I’d be such a fan?? I can’t wait for lots of snow to fall, because every winter the slopes start calling my name; I truly love a brisk sunny day skiing down the mountainside. But, like many of you, despite my healthy attitude I usually find myself giving in to the temptation of a Big Mac. The Health Section is going to cater to the students who are interested in creating a healthy lifestyle for themselves; it will encompass everything from what to eat (and how to combat those pesky cravings), how to sleep, attitudes on life, and exercise routines.

TRADEMARK magazine is all about defining our individuality, and for me, being a twin has definitely made me realize that there are no two people alike, regardless of how similar your genetics might be. I am so excited to begin investigating all of these issues, and showcasing articles and facts that will encourage you to adopt your own trademark health habits. Hopefully, in this section, you will find something new that inspires you to make your lives a little healthier, and a lot happier.

My name is Tiffany and I am the newly appointed Fashion Editor for TRADEMARK. Although I was hoping to hit the library at 9am tomorrow —emphasis on hoping— I seem to be working on a response (yes, at 3:30am) to Lauren’s first blog entry.

Just like our animated and bubbly Editor-in-Chief, I too cannot leave my place without my Blackberry, or without my MAC lipstick (colour: Myth). I get anxiety attacks when people I barely know skim through my iPod, and I also unintentionally interrupt people all of the time. I’m in my third year at UofT- studying Commerce- and I hate it. I’d like to say that I always finish what I start, but I know the only reason I’m sticking it through, is because I am simply too lazy to switch programs. I’m addicted to the Discovery Channel and National Geographic, and have always had an unusual curiosity for Ancient Egypt and the Universe—perhaps I was a Pharaoh or Martian in a previous life? I used to think I was good at prioritizing my tasks, until I recently discovered that “running errands” was simply a guilt-free way of procrastinating. The clothes in my closet are hung by colour and shade, yet nothing in my drawers seems to remain folded. I go to tanning salons, despite the fact that, according to my Dad, I’m “going to look like an old leather bag in a few years.” I buy more books than I can read, and I wear fur even though the few PETA videos I have watched display the most heartbreaking images I have ever witnessed. I party too much, shop too much, and eat too much, but I couldn’t be more content. School stresses me out yet, instead of studying, I find myself ripping images out of magazines and saving pictures from the internet because they make me feel good. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters, right? These are my trademarks, and these are the reasons my friends love me for who I am. I’ve embraced each and every one of them, and I couldn't be happier any other way!

With that being said, I am so excited to finally see TRADEMARK well on its way. I am always interested in trying new things, and having the chance to work with so many talented people will only open more doors to world’s both similar and different to my own. Because of this magazine, the University of Toronto will no longer be purely about stiff academics. We are hoping, that with your help, it will aid in centralizing such an extensive community, by bringing together all of you that have similar interests. Everyone knows that going to university in a city as large as Toronto can be difficult; it is my hope that TRADEMARK can help establish interconnectedness, and encourage new networks to develop across the city, and perhaps the country.

To conclude my first post, I have decided to leave you all with a video- I know you want to take a break from studying, right?! My sister showed me this skit a few weeks ago, and thanks to this performance, I’ll never be able to take the song "Single Ladies" seriously. Now, every time you hear this song on the radio, it will trigger your memory right back to this video! Enjoy!!

My name is Lauren. I am an English and Art History student, and I love reading and art. I love to shop for anything at all-- clothes, groceries, shoes, books, other people-- and because of that, at the end of each month I am usually without access to funds. I never stop talking, thinking, or writing, and I love to travel. I am a stubborn, opinionated perfectionist, yet I have an inability to say 'no' to the people I care about, and I cry like a baby during sentimental commercials. I have a passion for every little thing that is designed by Miuccia Prada, and I rarely blink without checking my red rubber-encased Blackberry. I'm notoriously crap with names, and notoriously anal about grammar and spelling, yet even I make mistakes. In my four years at the University of Toronto, I have succeeded at elevating procrastination from a simple activity, to a true art form. I am fanatical about detoxing, yet I love to cook. I never leave the house without a scarf- vintage, Missoni, pashmina, GAP, doesn't matter from where- and an enormous bottle of water. I am passionate about Barack Obama, and global affairs in general, yet I did not vote in the Canadian election. Am I proud of all of this? Well, I'm not exactly sure. But, these are my trademarks. Now tell us, what are yours?

I should begin by telling you, that I have a confession to make. And I have decided, that in my first full blog as Editor-in-Chief of TRADEMARK, the University of Toronto's first-ever fashion and lifestyle magazine, I will finally take a moment to reveal it to everyone:

Throughout our many months of enthusiastic meetings, weeks of fervent e-mails, days of snapping photographs and scouring images, and hours of tirelessly editing to ensure absolute perfection exists on each and every page, I have become utterly obsessed with this publication. I live, breath, and sleep TRADEMARK. And in truth, I have never been happier, or prouder.

As a team, we are creating something truly distinctive: a magazine that creatively incorporates, and vigorously investigates, all the elements essential to the chic, intelligent, and healthy university student's life. Whether your interests lie mainly in fashion, shopping, beauty, health and fitness, travel, art, music, film, food, current affairs, or are a special combination of them all, I can sincerely promise that you will find something perfect amongst our pages, tailored especially for you. Every piece or item we showcase for purchase will take your budgets into consideration; every editorial shoot we feature will offer you a new, fresh way of looking at fashion and this city's vibrant settings; every article will provide you with the information that you desperately want, but are just too busy to unearth for yourselves.

In this blog, you will get a fabulous taste of all the wonderful things still to come in TRADEMARK's print and online version, as well as access to some exclusive "blog-only" features. During the next few weeks, each of our writers will blog about themselves: their interests, their pet-peeves, their discoveries, their dilemmas, their obsessions. Meanwhile, our stylestalkers will hunt the halls and walkways of UofT, determined to capture snaps of those of you that have taken the time to develop your own style, by taking a trend and uniquely incorporating it into your own trademark look. We will be updating-- not weekly, but daily-- so check back, and check OFTEN.
